Thanks for JOINing US IN OUR FIGHT AGAINST HUMAN TRAFFICKING

In the spirit of service to our community, DC Stop Modern Slavery (DC SMS), a Washington DC community group, will host a volunteer activity to put up posters all over the DC area to raise awareness about human trafficking. Human trafficking is modern day slavery. DC SMS (www.stopmodernslavery.org) is a human rights community group that leverages the power of the community and the grassroots to stop human trafficking in the DC Area and beyond.

This volunteer activity will take place on the weekend (Jan 17-18) before the Inauguration.
The posters we put up will raise awareness about human trafficking and about the NHTRC national hotline that allows people all over the nation to report suspicious activity in their communities. By promoting the national hotline, we empower communities to take part in the movement to stop modern slavery. Millions of people will flood the DC Area on and around Inauguration Day and they will see these posters.

World Bank Podcasts
Human Trafficking is modern day slavery. However it is more insidious than the horrific slave trades of the past, as the victims are usually kept hidden from the rest of the society.

Who are these every day people kept in anonymous captivity? How can we recognize them?
