NEW YORK, June 9, 2009 – V-me, one of America’s largest Spanish broadcast networks, will premiere a new documentary on July 10th at 8:00pm (et) Vivir en Libertad: Lucha Contra la Trata de Personas addressing the issue of human trafficking.
V-me’s award-winning journalist and host of La Plaza, Maria Hinojosa, narrates the 30-minute documentary, a production of the InterAmerican Development Bank (www.iadb.org) with the support of the Ricky Martin Foundation. In a special introduction, Ricky Martin as an advocate of children’s rights addresses the complexities of this modern form of slavery.
Vivir en Libertad: Lucha Contra la Trata de Personas covers the multi-layered issues of prevention, protection and prosecution of human trafficking. The documentary was made in response to the widely successful Call and Live (www.llamayviva.org), the first regional campaign against human trafficking in the Americas, a successful alliance between the InterAmerican Development Bank and the Ricky Martin Foundation.
