People for Children - Combating Human Trafficking in the Americas

Thanks to donors like you, our efforts to combat human trafficking have been successful.  Call and Live, the first anti-trafficking regional campaign in the Americas in alliance with IOM and IDB has been deployed in Ecuador, Nicaragua, the Dominican Republic, Costa Rica and the Latino Community in DC. We have received over 55,000 relevant phone calls, fostered 60 investigations and saved dozens of lives. With our Public Service Announcements, millions of people today know how to prevent falling prey to this horrific crime. Next year, Mexico, Guatemala and El Salvador will join this unprecedented regional initiative. Visit www.llamayvive.org and check the videos in you tube.

Our regional experience combating human trafficking in the Americas commits us to the well-being of our children in Puerto Rico. In May 2007, we signed a Collaboration Agreement with the University of Puerto Rico (Rio Piedras Campus) and the Protection Project to shed light into the complexities, challenges and consequences that this lucrative and horrible crime has in the lives of this most vulnerable population. The Investigation will be published in 2009. Become an advocate against child exploitation and support this unprecedented initiative. We thank DACO for their support.

Navega Protegido - Our Online Safety Campaign

Unfortunately, atrocities committed towards children are also rampant online. Convinced that knowledge is the most powerful tool, RMF and Microsoft have responded by launching “Navega Protegido”. This online child safety campaign, which has already launched in Puerto Rico, Costa Rica, Bolivia, Panama and  Mexico, consists of a website http://www.navegaprotegido.org that provides educational tools to protect children from cyber-crimes.

Visit the website and register your name to receive a newsletter and periodic e-mails from our President, Ricky Martin. In 2009, more countries in Latin America will join us.
